HOW TO MAKE CHEAP FAKE SCARS (FOR COSPLAY)

If you’ve ever wondered how to make a fake, realistic looking scar for your cosplay, but don’t want to mess around with effects makeup and liquid latex and all that other crap, read at the readmore:

First step: You’ll need a red pen and a black pen. I’ve only worked with ballpoint. The skinnier you can get the better, I can’t find my ultra-skinny pens at the moment so I am using regular ones.

Step 2: Using the red pen, draw the shape of the scar. Make sure that it’s jagged, and looks to be a scar-ish shape. Usually that means tapering it at both ends and making it wider and more jagged in the middle.

Step 3: Using the black pen, lightly trace over it.

Step 4: Rub it with your finger so that it smears. There should be a beginnings of a red “rash"or irritation mark there, and it should fade out to a pink-purple-red color.

Step 5: Repeat it until you get your satisfactory results. This works best where the skin is taut, like the back of your hand or arm, or face if you’re willing to have someone rub their fingers on your face.

If your pigment is strong enough (which it isn’t in these crappy pens I used :( ) then it will look really realistic, even up close, as the pigment was able to go into the cracks of your hand. From a middle-to-long distance it looks great! Just remember to retouch it up every once in a while- being ballpoint pen ink does have its limits.
