i love my eurobros. a year and a half ago, they were just a semi-random assortment of europeans thrown into a skype call, from all over- the netherlands, germany, england, finland, sweden. they were all strangers, with no common friends save me, and no common interests save computers and gaming and general nerdiness.
it was a bunch of misfits- some generally nerdy teenagers in a thought-to-be-short-lived skype call. for some reason, after a few calls that lasted 6+ hours, we became comfortable with each other.
we became friends. and family. and in some cases, closer.
the name eurobros came from a fanfiction i had read- gutters, by glassamilk. the term tea terrorist came from aaron and paul, a term coined because of the boston tea party.
bluue, from sweden, took a while to warm up to everyone. he wouldn’t talk for months, instead silently stalking the chat. he eventually warmed up, and for one of the first times I heard his voice almost 3 months later.
thom, from the netherlands, had already known aaron and paul from england. saku, from finland, had known aaron as well- that was how i met him. same case with peddah, from germany.
i had known all of them to some degree, some more close than others. bluue i had known since 7th grade through another friend. aaron and paul, since 8th grade. saku and thom and peddah i had met just a few weeks earlier.
for some reason, i put them into a skype call together. maybe it was just a hunch, maybe it was my slight obsession with european countries. maybe it was fate. i don’t know. but somehow, this group of people, of which had only 1 mutual friend with all of each other (me), worked well together.
there have been some mistakes. staeld, from norway, was one of the biggest. serion, from my school, was another. peddah was put on probation several times, but is now back in the chat, still on probation, but he pops in sometimes to say hi.
but we also made some good decisions.
one of our newer members, snaiper, invited by thom, had been seriously considering suicide. she was going to do it before thom added her into the call. and then she discovered us. and she finally found good people in the world, good people that she loves and in some cases, only tolerates, and she regained her faith in humankind.
these days, she considers me one of her best friends and an older sister, even though i am two years younger.
these days, we are close. aaron and paul, maybe not so much. but, i feel close to 4 other members. i consider them my family, a real part of my family. bluue, thom, saku, snaiper- they are closer to me than a few members of my actual family. i trust them more than a few members of my actual family.
and the best part is, they are the same way. or similar.
bluue says hi everyday. he bought a website domain for us, and forum software, and is willing to set up a podcasting thing so that we may record our conversations and save them, even though he didn’t need to. he names characters in games after us, and, he wants to set up a dnd game for just the eurobros to play.
thom is a proudly proclaimed eurobro. his texing app (which he has in order to text the other eurobros… paul and aaron and bluue and saku also have this) has a signature that says; “[Proud Eurobro]- Thom.” i am guessing that we are the people that he talks to the most.
saku said once that he has a few best friends that will never be equaled or replaced, but he says that right now, to him, this is the most important friend group. we are the most important friend group in his life.
snaiper, i have already discussed. she considers me especially (since she’s not super comfortable with a lot of boys) a big sister and a best friend. she is always reading the chat, always giving sound advice, always listening. we saved her life.
these people, they have been here for each other and for me for a year and a half. we talk every day, and call often, mostly on the weekends due to time differences. we have often 2+ hours of straight calling, filled with ridiculous antics, jokes, and so forth. they are the people i enjoy talking to the most, probably, out of all my online friends.
a few months ago, we started a letter exchange. being in the us, and having the easiest time sending letters, i’m the most diligent with this task. however, we send letters to each other, often carrying little snippets of our own home country, whether it be a food label or a newspaper clipping, or a small coin.
and now we’re meeting. while i’m in finland, i’m planning on visiting saku and bluue, and in 2015, bluue is coming to the usa to attend anime central with me. he has also offered to let us live with him in sweden if we so wish, as long as we pay for part of the rent.
this is one of those success stories in online friendship. what started out as a group of 7 strangers has now blossomed into a group of 15, a group of support, jokes, and happiness. some of us are closer than others, namely the group of bluue, thom, snaiper, saku, and i, but still, we are not only a group of friends, but a group of family. we are each others’ best friends (from my point of view), and we are each others’ support.
we are the eurobros. we are the tea terrorists.
we are the eurobros and tea terrorists.
we are a group of friends.
we are family.

How did you meet them though? I understand over Skype, but did you just randomly search them or was there some connection?
I’m just curious because I DO want global friends but am too scared to seem like creeper or a weirdo to the other person. TT^TT
